WHAT A SUCCESS
"I felt inspired to drop you a line after successfully implementing just one of your 101 ideas within one month after buying your book. I decided to try your “Week From Hell” format for seminars, but instead of using different departments from within the practice, we set up a two part series based on just employment law and in each ran 5 scenarios (Monday to Friday) in the life of an Operations Manager who had just stepped into the shoes of the HR officer. This meant that we could create almost limitless scenarios from unfair dismissal to disability discrimination, flexible working, grievance procedures, discrimination questionnaires, transfer of undertakings and so on. My team scripted all the scenarios (not difficult when we have had more than 30 years of employment law experience), made them realistic, provided for role play by myself and a colleague, whilst a third colleague was lined up to facilitate interactive discussions with delegates after each “day in the life” of the Operations Manager. Each session lasts about 45 to 50 minutes.
What a success; the guests were captivated and engaged. Some had booked for both sessions. Those who had booked only for the first session rapidly booked for the second one after they had experienced the first. In terms of work generation, fantastic! We gained a new client with major restructuring issues worth lots of fees to my firm within 24 hours after their attending both sessions. Not only that, feedback from attendees is very impressive. Relationships with existing clients who came along have been greatly enhanced.
This really was a simple and fun exercise to prepare and present. I feel we have a winning blue print for future seminars and I know that none of our regional competitors is doing anything like this. Thank you for inspiring me."
